The Department of State Hospitals’ (DSH) Police Officers provide safety, service, and security to patients, employees and the public in and around each hospital.
In addition to police responsibilities and investigations, law enforcement personnel work closely with clinical staff to ensure the safe treatment of the more than 6,300 patients assigned to the facilities and the safety of the more than 11,000 DSH employees.
SALARY & BENEFITS
The salary range is $6,033 to $7,568 per month
with possible incentives.

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must be at least 21 years old, complete a written examination, and have the equivalent to a high school diploma.

CULTURE OF SERVICE
The Department of State Hospitals (DSH) manages the California state hospital system, which provides mental health services to patients admitted into DSH facilities. The department strives to provide effective treatment in a safe environment and in a fiscally responsible manner.
In fiscal year 2019-2020, the department served 9,211 patients and employed nearly 13,000 staff in a 24/7 hospital system. DSH has locations in Atascadero, Coalinga, Metropolitan, Napa, and Patton.
